On the trains – Limited Express Thunderbird

Kyoto to Kanazawa via Limited Express Thunderbird

Just finished our very oishi eki-ben.

The journey was 2 - 2 1/2 hours. We can view the gloomy sea on this leg (it was raining almost daily when we were there in May). This was the only time the train conductor asked to see our JR Pass and our seat reservation tickets. Usually, we just showed the JR Pass. Nobody ever ask us to show our passports as proof, though.

The train conductors had this “handheld thingy” where they can check the reserved seats allocation. Cool gadget.

This means, once the train conductor came and check your tickets, he won’t bother you anymore for the rest of your journey. Nice…
