Taking the Steam Locomotive BanEtsu Monogatari-go at 3.25pm, we arrived Niigata station at 7.00pm. Our next train was at 8.17pm, on the Joetsu Shinkansen Max Toki to Ueno station. Deciding against eating at one of the restaurants scattered in the station, we opted for ekiben for dinner.

The ekibens look absolutely yummy, right? Salmon, salmon roe, mushrooms, eggs, fish egg and chestnut. They were so delicious! And we kept the red bento boxes as souvenir.
Check out for more Niigata ekiben selection here.

I love salmon!! They're my favourites...and eaten raw of course.
Looks yummy indeed! And can keep the boxes as souvenirs! Not bad! : )
that looks absolutely delicious. i've been seeing a lot of yummy food for the past few days. and i put on weight just looking at them. :)
@Mei Teng,
No raw salmon in this ekiben. I think they are salted salmon, but it was nice too. :)
@foong,
Not bad, right? Two in one. Got food and got food container also. :D
@Life Ramblings,
Hahaha... better start to get moving now... don't sit and drool too much over food. ;)
Oh the 2rd one looks yummy~ Salmon roe... oh something I would love to get my hands on~
Oh I am jealous... After eating all the good japanese food in Tokyo, do you still enjoy the japanese food in Malaysia? O.o
@ladyviral,
you know, Zaini now refused to go to any Japanese restaurant in Malaysia. I think I have to wait another 6 months before he starts missing the Japanese food to agree to go. LOL
Totally different experience leh... even eating at Sushi Zanmai Japan is so completely different from Sushi Zanmai Malaysia. Sushi Zanmai Japan's food is waaa better than any 5-star Japanese place I've been to in Malaysia. Imagine that. :D

yeah, i also tried my best to finish all the homework in school.. but during secondary school, it's really impossible, most of the time i will need to finished them at home, normally could be until dinner time.. haiz!! and there are always weekend homework and term break homework, WTF!!
Beautiful poem, eng.... LOVE will mend all broken hearts. When I got my divorce, I never thought I'd be able to love again. Then I met George (many years later). I found real LOVE for the FIRST time I think when I met George. Love is so powerful.

those bento boxes look so good to keep, no wonder you had them for souvenir. So much bentos for your trip!
@Ayie,
Last year's trip we had so much more bentos because we were virtually on the bullet trains everyday!
The bento boxes are nice to keep, and served to remind us of our fun times vacationing in Japan.
