Cosmos flower, the classic flower of Autumn. I read somewhere that the kanji of Cosmos is written as the "autumn cherry blossom".
Persimmon
Mention Cosmos to my Son and I know his first thought of Cosmos would be, what else? Ultraman Cosmos!
He'll be meeting all those Ultra Heroes soon, as his 9th birthday treat. :)

Like the beautiful purple colour of the Cosmos. Kaki is one of the delights of Autumn in Gifu along with grapes.

I like Autumn cherry blossom! The leaves all turn red like fire!
ReplyDelete@Japan Australia,
ReplyDeleteI really need to make a point to visit Gifu one of these days. ^^
@ristinw,
ReplyDeleteYeah, totally. Am totally psyched experiencing and enjoying "koyo" this time. :)
Very beautiful cosmos. At first I thought I clicked another blog.
ReplyDeleteDoea your son's birthday present mean that your family will come to Japan soon?
@minor,
ReplyDeletewhy? ;)
Yes, we'll be in Japan from Nov 29 - Dec 13. Visiting Shikoku for the first time this year! ^^
Lovely cosmos flower... I actually don't knw it was called cosmos, har...!
ReplyDeleteEhhhh... the Persimmon kinda look different frm Wht I saw in the market, was it the angle or perhaps different species?
I like how the cosmos flowers are arranged in the bowl. Summer went by too fast and wished it is always summer. Have fun in your future Japan trip. I always look forward to the sidewalk roasted chestnuts vendors during the colder months.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have ever tasted a persimmon. I think they do sell them in some shops. I should be more adventurous and try one. I'll look out for recipes. I have had some cosmos flowers brightening my back balcony all summer. I like them very much.
ReplyDeleteLovely Cosmos. I like Sakuras though... I think they are softer. But maybe there are more softer like petals that I don't know of. Care to show me? :p
ReplyDelete@Alice,
ReplyDeleteThe persimmon looks exactly the same lah, it't the angle. ;)
@AVCr8teur,
ReplyDeleteIt's been ages since I had roasted chestnut even though I can find them all year round here.
Mmmmm... thinking of the wonderful aroma of them roasting now. Lovely. ^^
@Jenny,
ReplyDeleteThey are nice. If you found a really ripe one, put it in the freezer for a simple sorbet type dessert. It's lovely.
@LV,
ReplyDeleteHow about plum blossoms? Or chrysanthemum? :)
Highly recommend Gifu Lina, it is one of the best kept secrets of Japan :)

Wow what a great birthday treat meeting the Super Heros himself. Oh didn't know cosmos is linked to Autumn and persimmon. tQ.
ReplyDelete@Japan Australia,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation. I'll do my homework on Gifu soon! :)
@Bananazஇ,
ReplyDeleteCosmos not related to autumn or persimmon lar.... just the "Cosmos" name same only. xD
By the way, Ultraman Cosmos does represent and promote peace instead of battling monsters without mercy. Kinda fit the Lion Club Peace Poster campaign. ^^
The persimmon looks very 'round'...
ReplyDelete@Lrong,
ReplyDeleteNow that I look at them... They do, don't they?
