East or West: A Walking Journey Along Shikoku’s 88 Temple Pilgrimage
Please consider supporting the ‘East or West’ Kickstarter campaign: http://kck.st/QB8XPQ

The goal of this Kickstarter is to raise the funds needed to publish a photographic book about walking the Henro, a four-century-old pilgrimage route around the Japanese island of Shikoku.

‘East or West’ is an abridged diary, an account of a mystical journey, and a photographic poem in the form of a book.  The images in the book are studies in luminous detail.  They are hauntingly beautiful, reflecting the loneliness, quiet intensity, and grace that all true spiritual seekers come to know.  The determination on the face of a stone warrior, a few flowers at a small shrine: each image pulls you into the moment, making you part of the journey into the heart of Shingon Buddhism and its founder Kōbō Daishi.  When you close this little book you will find that you too have been a pilgrim, for you will be wiser and stronger for having shared the quest.

The author, Alexandra Huddleston, is a highly regarded professional photographer with work in the collections of the Smithsonian and the British Museum.  She has completed two walking pilgrimages

Alexandra’s photography is available for publication, appropriate licensing, exhibition, and purchase as books and fine art prints
