UTMF 2014 - Congrats To Our Malaysian Contingent

UTMF - Ultra Trail Mount Fuji.

The official name of the overall race is the “ULTRA-TRAIL Mt. FUJI”.
There are two race categories within the ULTRA-TRAIL Mt. FUJI: The “UTMF“ (Ultra-Trail Mt. Fuji) which takes runners around the entire circumference of Mt. Fuji and the “STY” (Shizuoka To Yamanashi) which goes half way around Mt. Fuji.

This year, it was held on Friday, Apr 25th to Sunday, Apr 27th 2014. Yup, it's a 3 days race.

There were a few running friends who entered and finished the race. If not mistaken, there were 6 Malaysians entering; 5 men and a lady!

Can't wait to read/listen about their racing adventures soon!

In the meantime, congrats Ray, Yim, KA and Lee Lee. SALUTE!
p.s. These are photos Zaini and I took while these people are running in Malaysia and not in Japan. Would've been nicer to post their photos with the Jalur Gemilang held proudly, which they did upon finishing UTMF but then am too lazy to ask permission for people's photos. :P

And errr... I didn't actually ask their permission to post this congratulatory post to them... I hope they don't mind.

There's one Mount Fuji that sounds interesting and not as scary (and doesn't have stringent ultra running background as UTMF) and it's Fujisan Marathon. On Nov 30th this year.
Quite tempting...

  2. I know an easier Mt. Fuji marathon you can do in under 5 minutes. If you know the answer, say it. Otherwise, I'll leave you in suspense for a few days. >;)

    1. Okay, I'll tell you now. Just find a mini-Mt. Fuji. Ru took me to one in Shinagawa. You just run around a small set of rocks from Mt. Fuji and it is called Mt. Fuji too. ;)

  4. Thanks Lina for the kind support.

You can add Bahtiar Salomon another Malaysian that completed UTMF and Duncan Archibald (STY)

My highest congrats to Tan Lee Lee, the only Malaysian women completed the STY (the final finisher).

You don't need my permission, you can use my FB finishing photos if you want.

Thanks again, Malaysia Boleh in Japan.

  5. So are you going to marathon in Japan this year or not? I demand to know! :D

I wouldn't be able to run a Fuji marathon. Not because I'd collapse within one hour, but because I'd come to dead halt within five minutes and just stand, and look, and stare, and worship the Magic Mountain. ^^

    1. We will! We will!

The thing is, I just entered Kobe Marathon ballot and won't know until June. Both Nara Marathon and Fujisan Marathon opens their registration in June (Missed Fujisan early-bird slot).

I will probably won't finish in the 6hour time limit at Fujisan Marathon too, as I bet I will stop way too many times! LOL
